Lupane District in Matabeleland North has suspended operations of two of its health facilities after 11 workers tested positive for covid19
In a statement, District Medical Officer Dr.George Mutizira said Lupane Rural Health Centre and Jotsholo Rural Health Centre will be closed for the period of 14 days.
“This is due to ten staff members who tested positive for covid19 at Lupane Rural Health Centre and one staff member staff member tested positive for covid19 at Jotsholo Rural Health Centre respectively.” he added.
Mutizira further explained that all staff members in both health facilities are isolated and quarantined. We do not have any more staff to serve the clinics for the specified period.
The District Health Executive is doing all it can with limited resources to do contact tracing and managing the cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Childcare, as of 21 January 2021, Matabeleland North recorded a total of 1095 cases,554 recoveries and 12 deaths.
